A new pair of screenshots

New screenshots were added to the gallery, and the development blog was also updated. The first level should, in it's final production state, be completed by August's end. Perhaps I will release a tech demo with the first level, would that be a good idea?

First official screenshots

A new album was added to the gallery, it contains a trio of the very first production screenshots of the game. The result of two years of messing around with several production pipelines, dealing with mostly prototype-quality assets and building the production environment, game engine etc. Three screenshots might not look like much after all this time, but the game engine and the production pipeline are rugged, and I'm confident that things will accelerate a lot from here. I've recently compiled a bunch of statistics on the game, for the curious. Here they are :

New Wallpapers Available

I did a bit of cleanup in the gallery. Added a new wallpaper with the logo of the Bolivarian Commonwealth (Res Publica Bolivaria). I've made it so wallpapers are available in a greater variety of resolutions, both widescreen and fullscreen. Progress on the game is going as it should. There will be a few surprises soon, brace for them!

We're renovating

I just replaced the old skin with a new design. It's still very temporary but hopefully it'll fix most of the issues with word-wrapping and the lack of room for the gallery. More details about how the game's doing are coming soon in the development blog.

Three new shots

Those who haven't been keeping up with the development blog must thing there isn't much action, nothing could be further away from the truth. Work is proceeding nicely and I've added three screenies to the "work in progress" gallery. I pondered for a while about creating a "Screenshots" album and putting them there instead, as they are very close to what could pass as production screenshots. Oh well, maybe next time. Enjoy!

New array of screenshots

For those who don't have an account, it must seem like forever since the last update. Those who do have an account have followed the Developer's Blog and know things are proceeding. I've added a slew of screenshots in the "Work in Progress" gallery. I'm happy to say I have the first level playable. That's a pretty big milestone. It's not final. I have to go back and re-texture many of the models to make them pretty. And make adjustments here and there (those will be ongoing).

Cafeshop opened. New gallery album.

Work is proceeding well on the game. As with most games of that nature, the very first production level you make is when you run into most of the problems. This is no different. Thankfully, the first level is also one of the most complex. So it means solving the problems for it will also solve most of the problems for the others.

I've added a new gallery album called "work in progress". This contains screens that are just that, work in progress. See these as the equivalent of concept art, but more technical and less artistic. Test renders, optimization attempts, shader tests etc.

Issues with the movies

Thanks to the feedback I received, I tracked and fixed a couple of issues with the movies. I'll be offering the movies in 2 different codecs, wmv for windows users and divx for Linux users (A Linux port of the game will be considered BTW). Now you can add stuff to a ZIP file as you would a shopping cart in your favorite online store. And you can "check out" by downloading the files as a single zip file. If there's any problem let me know. Cheers!

Tales of the U.S.C.A. website opening!

Welcome to the grand opening of the Tales of the U.S.C.A. website! Please excuse the mess, as most of the game's team (i.e. me) is busy making the game happen, only a small portion of the game's team (i.e. me) could be diverted in getting this site online.

As it is built on solid foundations (drupal + gallery2), expect it to grow and evolve as the game does, and your participation in it will follow.

You can create an account using the panel on the right, from there on you will be able to participate in the forums, leave comments etc.

I've posted a small teaser and a wallpaper in the gallery section. Check them out!

Notice any bug? Glitches? Please report them using either the contact form or in the "Speculations/Wishlist" section of the forums.
